“It’s an exciting stage in my career”

Elias Adestam, som nyligen kröntes till mästare i den historiska första upplagan av nya elektriska racingserien NXT Gen Cup, har testat en STCC-bil för första gången i karriären.

Elias Adestam, recently crowned champion of the historic first edition of the new electric racing series NXT Gen Cup, has tested an STCC car for the first time in his career.

The test took place in connection with the STCC Try Out at Ljungbyhed Motorbana in Skåne on Saturday, where the championship evaluated a total of seven selected young talents. The test was conducted without official timing.

Adestam took the seat in a PWR002, developed by STCC technical partner EPWR ahead of the 2024 season when the championship will be electrified with the fastest cars ever in series history. The rear-wheel drive PWR002 develops 550 horsepower, does 0-100 km/h in under three seconds and has a top speed of 300 km/h.

– This was great fun, says a smiling Elias Adestam. It takes off immediately when you press the gas; acceleration is instantaneous. The car is incredibly drivable. You could be on the edge without being afraid to go off, and it also suited this track very well. I think STCC has created a concept that will provide very entertaining racing.

17-year-old Adestam was awarded the tryout as a result of his NXT Gen Cup title victory. The gold also gives him a sponsored entry fee for the 2024 STCC season, worth around half a million kroner.

– It’s still only October and a long way to go until next season, so we haven’t made a decision for 2024 yet, concludes Elias Adestam. It is an exciting stage in my career and we are working hard to get to the next step. A big thanks to NXT Gen Cup and STCC for this opportunity – we’ll definitely keep in touch over the winter.

Elias Adestam can look back on his best season in his career in 2023, when with five victories, seven podium places and two pole positions he took home the historic title in the NXT Gen Cup – the world’s first electric junior racing championship – and at the same time was proclaimed Swedish junior racing champion.
