“The purpose of Raising Against Cancer is to use racing as a platform to do something good

Porsche Carrera Cup driver Elias Adestam will auction off a unique helmet, based on ski icon Ingemar Stenmark’s legendary caps, to benefit the Children’s Cancer Foundation during the 2024 racing season.

The auction takes place within the framework of Adestam’s charity initiative Raising Against Cancer. The helmet is designed by Adestam himself with approval from Sätila of Sweden, which for over four decades has produced accessories and garments with the current pattern, and will be signed by Ingemar Stenmark.

– This idea was born when Ingemar himself competed in the Porsche racing championship, says Elias Adestam. I knew that he was fast both on the hill and on the track, but we hadn’t expected such an immediate and supportive response as we actually got when we presented the idea. It’s very nice to see how everyone has immediately got behind this for the sake of the good cause.

Elias Adestam conducted a similar auction in 2022, when a specially designed helmet with a Formula 1 theme fetched SEK 56,000. The amount that time went to Gunnar Nilsson’s Cancer Foundation in full.

– The purpose of Raising Against Cancer is to use racing as a platform to be able to do something good at the same time, continues Elias Adestam. We’ve had a number of different projects over the past few years, but this is without a doubt the most exciting yet..

– I hope we can raise a lot of money for the Children’s Cancer Foundation in this auction.

The unique helmet has been painted with motifs by Lasse Mehtola (360gfx) and will be worn by Adestam during his debut season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, Sweden’s biggest racing championship. It is then presented personally to the highest bidder at the final at Mantorp Park in September.

– When we got in touch with Elias, we immediately felt that this was a good and creative initiative that could also make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer, says Magnus Sjödin, Partner Manager at the Children’s Cancer Foundation. After joint dialogue, we came to the conclusion that the platform for selling the helmet will be Feel for Life, an activity that fully supports the Children’s Cancer Foundation and which also includes exclusive auctions. As the helmet becomes iconic from several perspectives and is only made in one copy, we believe that the auction may well reach over SEK 100,000

– We look forward with excitement to following Elias’ competitions during the year and the bidding that ends in connection with Feel for Life in Eskilstuna on September 13.

The auction is administered by Profeel and can be found here: https://feelforlife.se/produkt/elias-adestam/
